Holiday

Since 2021 for EU citizens;

  • for a short stay, till a maximum of 6 months, you do not need a visa
  • your trip can take longer because the border control can check you
  • (from 1 October 2021) your ID card is not valid anymore, you need a passport that is valid for your whole stay in the UK

Business Trip

If you are an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen traveling to the UK for a short business trip, you may not need to apply for a visa.

Under the UK’s new points-based immigration system, you can continue to visit the UK without applying for a visa. In most cases, you can stay for up to 6 months. You may participate in a wide range of activities including business-related activities such as meetings, events, and conferences. You may enter the UK multiple times during that period but you may not live in the UK by means of frequent or successive visits.

As a business visitor, you can not;

  • do paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person
  • do a work placement or internship
  • sell directly to the public or provide goods and services

Working in the UK

If you will work in the UK for longer than 6 months, you need to apply for a visa.

School

You will need a Student Visa or Graduate Visa, or Child Student Visa if you are aged between 4 to 17 years old.

The British government has told that the college money will not change for this school year because of the Brexit. For the next college year, they have not made a decision yet.

Driving in the UK

If you have a non-UK driving license you can drive in the UK, you do not need an International Driving License. Always check if you are insured in the UK as well.

Bringing your pet

An EU pet passport issued in a member state is still valid to enter the UK. Before they enter the UK your pet must be;

  • microchipped
  • vaccinated against Rabies (you need to wait 21 days after the primary vaccination before traveling into the UK)

Pet travel documents

Your pet must have one of the following documents when entering the UK;

  • having a UK pet passport
  • having the animal health certificate (AHC) issued in the UK used to travel to the EU
  • a UK pet health certificate

Traveling with more than 5 pets

You can not bring more than 5 pets unless you are attending or training for a; (see below) and you will need written evidence of registration for the event.

  • competition
  • show
  • sporting event

All your pets must;

  • be attending the event or training
  • be over 6 months old
  • meet the pet travel rules
